WHVCA is submitting a second packet of registrations with the registration fees waived!
Submit your registrations to the Wirehaired Vizsla Club of America by May 1, 2010 so that we can submit it to AKC-FSS by June 1, 2010.
See below for information on submitting an FSS registration application.

January 1, 2009

Wirehaired Vizslas are eligible to compete in AKC Companion and Performance events. WHVs can enter obedience, rally, and agility trials, tracking tests and hunt tests.

October 17, 2008

The WHVCA's batch of registrations has been submitted. We compiled a notebook of 86 dogs with their pedigrees and pictures! We also made a duplicate copy for the club's records & the breed's history in the US.

If you didn't get your dog's FSS application in to the WHVCA, it's still not too late to get them registered in FSS!

August 8, 2008

We have been approved to compete in AKC Companion (obedience, rally, agility and tracking) and Performance (hunt tests) events with our Wirehaired Vizslas, effective January 1, 2009!
Dogs will need to be FSS registered to compete in AKC events.

January 23, 2008

The Wirehaired Vizsla Club of America is pleased to announce the recent acceptance of the Wirehaired Vizsla in AKC’s Foundation Stock Service (FSS). Much careful thought and discussion went into our decision to submit an application to the FSS. The WHVCA Board of Directors made calls and attempted to speak with everyone in the club about it before a vote was called. Our members voted with an overwhelming 86% majority in favor of seeking admission to FSS. We believe there are a number of important benefits to eventual AKC recognition.

***AKC offers everyone in the US more opportunities to participate with their dogs
in a variety of events, regardless of geographic location.
***With eventual AKC recognition, the WHV in the US will be able to be included in the
worldwide gene pool instead of remaining an isolated community.
***Last but not least, establishing a foundation stud book in AKC’s FSS will establish
a single, uniform foundation for the future of the breed in America.

With approval by the WVCA membership, the application was submitted last fall and we recieved formal notification of acceptance by the AKC FSS committee on January 17th.

Acceptance by FSS is not full recognition by AKC, or even immediate recognition. Eventually reaching full AKC recognition is a process that will take a number of years. The process begins with building a foundation stud book by registering Wirehaired Vizslas in FSS. Once there are enough dogs registered, usually around 300, we can petition to advance to AKC’s Miscellaneous class and be eligible to participate in conformation shows and field trials. After some time, typically one to three years, in the Misc. class, we can petition for advancement to full recognition in the Sporting group.

FSS Registration Information
The deadline to include your FSS registration in our
second packet is May 1, 2010.
The packet will be mailed to AKC by May 15, 2010.

Registration forms are avilable online. Just  print and fill out
the application, attach an 8 1/2" x 11" photocopy of your dog’s NAVHDA, registration pedigree or, if it is an imported dog not registered in North America, its FCI export pedigree. Including the verifiable NAVHDA pedigree is very important--dogs registered without a verifiable three-generation pedigree will not count towards the Misc. Class, nor be included in Misc. when the breed advances. Pedigrees must include the registration numbers of all the dogs in the three-generations to be verifiable.
IMPORTANT--
While UKC pedigrees are accepted to register your dog in FSS, unless all three generations behind the registered dog are UKC registered, they are listed on the pedigree as "Not UKC Registered" and do not show a registration number, making them unverifiable and they will not count as three gen. pedigrees, thus ineligible for Misc. Class.

Also attach two 3" x 5" photographs of your dog, close-up front and side views. See examples below.
Send the completed application with photocopy of pedigree and photographs to:
Wirehaired Vizsla Club of America
9992 S Old Highway 81
Assaria, KS 67416

Examples of close up front and side view pictures.
They don't have to be stacked like a show dog, just standing naturally is fine. For the best pictures, get down on the dog's level and close enough so the dog fills most of the frame.
